Ecologist. Writer. Photographer.
Based in British Columbia, I am originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba.
My academic research focuses on the forests and grasslands of western North America and the wildlife that inhabit them. I am particularly interested in how forest development drives wildlife habitat, but my greater interests include landscape ecology, carnivore ecology, and forest disturbance histories.
Outside of academia, I enjoy writing about nature, conservation, outdoor sports (particularly snowboarding), and how society values space. My writing has been featured in The Tyee and Slush the Magazine.
I take 35mm film photographs of people, ecosystems, and the overlooked places that they often interact. My work in nature and ecology drive much of my photography but I am more broadly interested in the things people leave behind.
